A cacophony of noiseAlex walker is an indigenous composer and musician with a keen focus on storytelling. Based just outside of Toronto, Ontario, Alex has been playing and writing music for over 12 years. Starting with guitar, Alex has experience with multiple instruments including (but not limited to) piano, drums and vocals. Originally focussed on performance, Alex’s focus was later drawn to the exploration and expression of composition.Alex’s eclectic compositional style focusses heavily on storytelling while drawing from a wide range of influences (Metallica, Mick Gordon, Akira Yamaoka, Portishead, Austin Wintory) and musical styles (metal, electronic, ambient, trip hop, jazz).Atmosphere plays a key part in Alex’s compositions paying great attention to the environment they are inspired by and a part of. Never satisfied with status quo, exploration and experimentation is integral to Alex’s style. Alex is always looking for inspiration from new musical styles and sound design and composition techniques. A staple of Alex's compositions is the combination of organic and electronic textures, effectively bridging the gap between the digital and analogue worlds.In late 2023/early 2024 Alex was a part of Team Angel Fish for the Just Play Game Jam hosted by Anima Interactive. Their game ‘In the Shadow of the Sun’ won ‘Technical Achievement’ at the Just Play Game Jam awards at SXSW 2024.
